Behind the Lens: What a Session Looks Like

One of the questions I get most often is, “What should I expect during a session?” If the idea of being in front of a camera makes you a little nervous, you are absolutely not alone — and I promise, by the end of our time together, you’ll wonder why you were ever worried.

Before We Even Pick Up the Camera

Every session starts with a conversation. I want to hear about you — what this session means to you, who will be there, what vibe you’re going for. Are we celebrating a milestone? Capturing your family in this season of life? Creating content for your brand? Once I understand your vision, I put together a plan: location ideas, timing for the best light, outfit suggestions, and a loose shot list so we make the most of our time.

The Day Of

When session day arrives, the most important thing I want you to know is this: you don’t need to know how to pose. That’s my job. I’ll guide you through every moment — where to put your hands, how to stand, when to look at each other and laugh. Most of the magic happens in between the “official” poses anyway. Those candid, in-between seconds where you’re cracking up at a joke or stealing a glance — that’s the gold.

I keep the energy relaxed and fun. We’ll chat, play music, and take breaks whenever you need them. My sessions aren’t rushed or stiff. Think of it less like a formal photo shoot and more like hanging out with a friend who happens to have a camera.

After the Session

Within about two weeks, your full edited gallery will land in your inbox. I hand-edit every single image to make sure the colors are warm, the skin tones are natural, and the overall feel matches the mood of your session. You’ll be able to download, share, and print your favorites right from the online gallery.
